News from Telstra,

Telstra and Accenture (NYSE: ACN) have formed an alliance to deliver a range of cloud computing services called Network Computing Services.

The alliance brings together the capabilities of both companies together in one delivery model, providing customers Telstra’s strength in operating IT infrastructure and networks with Accenture’s transformation, industry, application integration and migration capabilities.

Under the agreement, Telstra and Accenture are delivering cloud computing solutions to organisations across Australia and New Zealand to improve their business performance. Since signing the alliance agreement in April 2010, Telstra and Accenture have helped customers including Fulton Hogan and Stella Travel to improve productivity through cloud computing.

Network Computing Services offers information and communications technology (ICT) services, accessible securely over a Telstra network connection, and delivered from centralised Australian-based data centres hosted physically within a secure Telstra facility.

“Cloud computing offers enterprises a quantum leap towards enabling ICT-driven productivity gains. The Telstra and Accenture alliance gives customers wanting a cloud solution a unique blend of skills and capabilities that combine a world-leading network with best-in-class business solutions. Our customers are accessing their network computing and storage solution from where they need it, to help deliver productivity benefits along with cost and capital expenditure savings,” Nerida Caesar, Group Managing Director Telstra Enterprise and Government, said.

“This alliance is proving very timely since many organisations are focused on driving new growth and increasing productivity, while keeping costs under control and reducing IT expenditure and energy consumption. Building on our long-standing relationship, together we are working with clients, providing them with access to the right skills, technologies and network infrastructure at the right time,” Steve Willis, Managing Director, Accenture Australia Communications and High Tech, said.

Network Computing Services deliver secure, reliable and flexible ICT services and allow customers to move from a fixed to variable ICT cost model across a full spectrum of ’pay as you use’ services.

The Telstra and Accenture alliance helps organisations build their businesses around cloud by providing access to technology services such as infrastructure, development, business processes and applications via a private high speed data connection.
