ABout Playtv...... I have been using media centre since it first came out with XP and even though it has been a joy a lot of times it can be so frustrating and has numerous unexplained problems.

So I have been researching Playtv as a substitute. I am also keen to get a psp to stream tv as well. And for HD movies I will have to stream from my server using TVersity. Is that right? Will streaming 1080P over a 54 Mbps wireless router be slow?

If anyone has Playtv can you please advise of your setup, tips and any problems that might make me reconsider?

Cheers

I have playtv and its terrible! always locking up....not sure if its just mine, but so far im not impressed.
As for streaming 1080p over any wireless i'm going to say no. Only because my experience so far i've noticed a lot of the times i get random drop outs, thus making the movie stutter at times. (that was utilising wireless-N).
So 54Mbps may be just as bad if not worse. (May be ok to stream TV though)

The technology just isn't there yet to stream HD. DVDs seem to work ok, but a 54gig HD no.

I tried the PlayTV and after a couple of weeks Im switching back to Media Centre. PlayTV is just not good enough. Maybe in the future the updates will address the problems, but for now Media Centre seems to be the best as long as you have good signal strength
