Juniper Fast Track Program

Postby Jimmeh » Sat Jun 27, 2009 3:04 am

For anyone that has networking experience, specifically Cisco IOS, Juniper has a program running called the Juniper Networks Certification Fast Track Program.

The idea is that Juniper gives you access to some basic learning materials to convert you from Cisco IOS to JUNOS and once you pass an examination on their website, you get a 50% discount voucher to attempt Juniper exams at your local testing centre (Prometric in this case).

For those unfamiliar with Juniper's certifications, they have three levels (Juniper Networks Certified Internet Associate, Specialist and Expert) and a number of tracks which cover Enterprise Routing, Services, Switching and Firewall/VPN as well as equipment lines such as M/T and E series.

Juniper devices are found mainly in an ISP/large enterprise environment.

Personally, I work primarily with Cisco at a customer level, but Juniper at a core level. Mostly M320's but also T640's, ERX1440's and M10i's. There are some older Cisco 10k and 12k series in the core that I work with, and some CRS's but I don't get to play with them yet. From a switching perspective, it's nearly entirely Cisco. 6500's, 4500's, 3700's, 3500's and 2900's. But obviously many of them run CatOS instead of IOS.

I do have one customer that is entirely SSG series Juniper (some 50 odd devices) so they're definitely a contender.
